WHO WE ARE

Wildlife Rescue Queensland (WRQ) is a dedicated non-profit organisation focused on the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of native Australian wildlife. We operate across the Moreton Bay Region, driven by passionate volunteers who give their time, skills, and hearts to animals in need.

WHAT WE DO

Each year, WRQ responds to thousands of calls for injured, sick, and orphaned wildlife, from joeys found roadside to entangled birds, displaced possums, and heat-stressed bats. We work closely with local vets, the RSPCA, and Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital to provide the highest standard of care, from rescue to release.

SPECIES WE CARE FOR

WRQ holds permits to care for a wide range of native species, including possums, gliders, kangaroos, wallabies, birds, and bandicoots. In 2018, our rehabilitation permit expanded to include specialist and restricted species such as raptors, emus, koalas, reptiles, echidnas, bats, and other sensitive wildlife. Many of our carers are specially trained to handle these unique animals with expert care.

OUR MISSION

At WRQ, our mission is simple, to help native wildlife return safely to the wild. Everything we do is guided by compassion, respect for life, and a deep commitment to animal welfare.

We focus on the individual needs of each animal in our care, ensuring they receive the best chance at recovery and freedom. Our team often works collaboratively with other wildlife organisations, vets, and hospitals to provide specialised treatment when needed.

Whether it’s through rescue, rehabilitation, education, or advocacy, we’re here to protect Australia’s wildlife and the environment they call home.
